What's Love Got to Do with It?
by: Dr. LaVerne Whitehead Reed

How wonderful it is, how pleasant,
for God's people to live together in harmony! Ps 133:1(Good News Translation)
Through Christ each of us can experience being well-loved by God. In 1 John 4, the word love occurs 27 times, and God’s love through Christ is cited as the source of our love for God and for others. “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (v.10). “We have known and believed the love that God has for us” (v.16). “We love Him because He first loved us” (v.19).
God’s love is not a slowly dripping faucet or a well we must dig for ourselves. It is a rushing stream that flows from His heart into ours. Whatever our family background or experiences in life—whether we feel well-loved by others or not—we can know love. We can draw from the Lord’s inexhaustible source to know His loving care for us, and we can pass it on to others.
What a joy to know that we are loved with an everlasting love, a love expressive of a lifetime commitment. March is Sisterhood Month, a time of reflection, renewal, and reconnection. Opportunities to genuinely demonstrate a familiar declaration “I love my DST!”
What's love got to do with it? We walk our talk!
What's love got to do with it? We live our doing!
What's love got to do with it? We shall be the DST
Intended by the twenty two before us!
You God, are love. Thank you for the blueprint. Help us to be dutiful stewards of your love in our daily walk. Direct our actions as we seek to live in harmony with you and your creation. Enable us to demonstrate genuine charity as you extended to us. For the hope in you, your gift of love, and the faith to trust one another, we give you thanks. In Jesus name. Amen.
